PUBLIC PERCEPTION OF KHOJA AHMED YASAWI AND HIS HERITAGE IN KAZAKHSTANI SOCIETY

This article analyzes the features of the personality of Khoja Ahmed Yаsаwi and the perception of his teachings in modern Kazakhstan society. The article is based on the results of the republican sociological survey based on the sociological research report, "Public perception of the personality and spiritual heritage of Khoja Ahmed Yаsаwi in the Republic of Kazakhstan", conducted by the Qalam Foundation in October 2025. The study aims to evaluate the level of knowledge of the Kazakhstani people about Khoja Ahmed Yаsаwi and his teachings. The survey included 1018 respondents aged over 18 from every region of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
The results of the study show that the name of Khoja Ahmed Yаsаwi is widely known in society, but his teachings are not sufficiently studied in terms of content. The majority of respondents perceive Yаsаwi as а spiritual and symbolic person, while Sufi cannot clearly describe the basic principles of the teaching. The level of education and the nature of perception in relation to the teachings of Yаsаwi have significant differences in terms of region, age, and level of religiosity.
